So it’s been awhile since I’ve posted to “Food for Thought”. Am I still following a vegan diet? Indeed I am!
I’ve always said that when it comes to “missing” any kinds of foods that a vegan diet eliminates, I don’t miss cheese, sushi or even bacon.
I miss dessert. Sometimes a girl just needs a cookie.
Lately vegan baking has become more mainstream, thanks to the all-vegan Sticky Fingers Bakery winning The Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, and more attention being paid to food allergies and the allergens in our food. Say it with me now:
Hallelujah!
The Wall Street Journal recently took note of the growing popularity of vegan baking. Check out the video below, “This Cupcake Has Come a Long Way”.
I have made Babycakes’ double chocolate chip cookies since going vegan and they are delish. I’ve had many non-vegans ask for the recipe as well: you can find it via Goop.
PETA also has a great vegan baking cheat sheet to help bakers make ingredient substitutions without sacrificing taste and texture.
Bon appétit!
