OK, I have been MIA and am going to save the excuses for another day. However, yesterday was the dreaded SNOWQUESTER OF 2013 (or, more accurately, normal average rainy day); my survival instincts kicked in and I decided to cook and eat as if my life depended on it. Mmmmmmmmmm, pizza. Now I am sharing some pictures, lucky you!
I ended up photographing my fabulous homemade pizza dinner with a macro lens, which was already attached to the camera since I used it earlier to harass photograph the puppy and was too lazy to change it (that’s why some of the images look funky). Unfortunately, lens selection notwithstanding, over the past few months I have grown increasingly displeased with the performance and image quality of my ancient Nikon D70. So thank you Snowquester, your evil fake snow spirits tricked me into ordering a new camera today. Which I cannot afford, but it gets here on Friday and I can’t wait!
So, total ADD tangent. My apologies. So, yes. Pizza. I made some yesterday and it was awesome.

Homemade pizza sauce! I softened up chopped onions and carrots, added a can of whole tomatoes then let it all simmer for 30 minutes or so. It was chunky so I threw in into the food processor and pulsed it a bit, then returned it to the stove to thicken / reduce the watery texture.

… yet easy to slice to use as a topping. (Potato variety courtesy of Washington’s Green Grocer, the new delivery service I’m using to get a bi-weekly shipment of organic veg. Loving it!)

Top away! I used the onions/garlic/chickpeas, tomato sauce, a vegan basil spread, capers, potatoes, tomatoes, Daiya mozzarella, fresh parsley. All things I had around the kitchen.
Recipes
I used the following recipes as guides, but made some of my own adjustments to make the meal more to my liking.
Dough:
New York Times, Healthier Pizzas
Sauce:
Goop, Pizza Sauce
Oh, I mentioned I took some pictures of the puppy too, didn’t I? Well, here you go. 🙂 She is feeling much better, but wasn’t too excited about my macro photography experimentation.
